I'll have more Padrons -- they keep giving.

Daphne, it would have been great. Mine is currently plastic. I grew a lot of sweet peppers and - alas - peppers have now started to bother me too. But I can still dry the hot ones and make powder or make hot sauce. Since I consume so little, it works.

Let me know if you want to trade.

Birgitt Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2018402196949735412.post-70642206412060017022012-09-14T13:22:53.121-07:002012-09-14T13:22:53.121-07:00I've used the food mill for tomatoes, but the ...I've used the food mill for tomatoes, but the thought didn't occur to me to make apple sauce that way. I guess old habits die hard. I've still been peeling and coring mine. Think I'll try it your way next time, it sounds much more efficient!Curbstone Valley Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714297348566721344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2018402196949735412.post-44129973697638744002012-09-13T13:53:04.667-07:002012-09-13T13:53:04.667-07:00I always did my hot peppers in my blender that is ...I always did my hot peppers in my blender that is made of glass. It doesn't hold any flavors after it is washed. It worked perfectly. Of course no peppers for me anymore. Your last ones you shared, the Padrones, were especially awesome roasted with olive oil and sea salt--just the way you taught me. I get the "honey, are you gonna grow fill-in-the-blank this year" or "are there any more of those whatevers left in the garden" all the time. Lots of appreciation, not much help other than on the consumption end of the deal. But hey, can't complain too much, he doesn't turn up his nose at much of anything that I put in front of him , which makes it all worth the effort.

It sounds like a delightful afternoon!
