In the middle of a foggy afternoon, glimpses of summer sweetness still to come. I actually have no idea of the variety for either melon; I'm just happy about them.

Another six or eight cups of blackberries today, in a quick visit to the patch. Enough for the workshop tomorrow and a handful in my ice cream tonight. Yum.
Lovely little melons! I can't wait to taste the first sun warmed melon right in the garden.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful babies. Wonder how they will look when they 'grow up'.
ReplyDeleteDan -- isn't anticipation wonderful? It does help, however, that there are other sweet things ripe right now!
ReplyDeleteAutumn Belle, when we see them maybe we can identify them.
Melons not only look inviting, but soon they will smell wonderful too! I love the aroma of melons that are close to being ripe. It will be fun to try and identify these once they are a little more mature and recognizeable.
ReplyDeleteYeah!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only melons I have ever been able to successfully grow are the ones that come out of the compost! I remember a tiny, perfect cantaloupe a few years ago, hanging from the fence.
ReplyDeleteBut tell us: how did your workshop go???
Ooooh! You grew melons? I always think they'd never ripen in time up here but it makes me want to try. I found an interesting small mellon called Tigger that I want to try out.. maybe next year?
ReplyDeleteI also plucked a few warm blackberries off the vine, turned around and dropped them on my bowl of blackberries.... sooooo good!
er... bowl of ice cream... Heh.
ReplyDeleteYour blackberries are producing anincredible amount! Ours are yielding fruit in waves--so far...only enough for a pie, but so good.
ReplyDeleteI cheer for your baby melons and will enjoy your blackberries vicariously. There, I just added some to my cereal in my mind. Mmmmmm.
