Maybe this is why it makes me happy
Even when I was ten, gardening made me really happy. I may not have known why then, but maybe it was more than just a quirk of personality. Maybe it's science. That's right -- the only antidepressant that's hard to clean out from under your fingernails.
fThat's probably why a hike in the park makes me feel so much better than any workout in the gym ever did! No wonder I'm addicted to gardening and being outdoors in general.
I stopped taking sntidepressents about 7 months ago and started excersising and a little gardening because I have not got that much space. However I am getting a bigger yard soon and hope to grow and grow and grow;-)) Gardening is definetly a threapy..I agree totally..I have never been happier!
The "outside" of the world is good for the "inside" of man. I think there is real value in being in a more natural environment on a regular basis. If nothing else, it puts things in perspective and clears the cobwebs from the brain.

Very interesting article, I'm all for prescibing gardening and dirt over antidepressants...natures cure.:)
