Somewhere there lurk overview garden pictures, for another day, but last night there was a local gardener's meeting. I raced home afterwards to serve up the lentil soup my eldest had made (talk about wonderful; not only had she made it, but the parmesan rinds she added gave it depth and great savor). I worried a little that it wasn't enough food, but at the foot of the front stairs, guess what lurked:

Sauteed with garlic, this accidental kale made a lovely side dish.
Kale to the rescue! It really is a bit of an underdog plant. Misunderstood but so powerful.
ReplyDeleteHow nice. And it looks untouched by the bugs.
ReplyDeleteI just like the phrase "accidental kale". Sounds yummy. Must teach my kids to cook--it sounds like paradise to come home to a meal cooked by the kids.
ReplyDeletekitsapFG, I wonder if it's not one of those backbone foods. I think the Laurel's Kitchen people call it a "superfood," and I know I feel good about eating (and growing) it. Usually I plan where it is to grow. . .
ReplyDeleteDaphne, we don't have many bug problems. The amazing thing is that it was untouched by dogs or tennis balls.
Susan, yours will. Generally I have to be very specific if I want dinner made by someone else.
