The garden appears to be on my side of the equation. It's just drying -- seedlings looking sad, asparagus already leaning (guess who did NOT make a strong support structure in the off season?), stuff flying around. The chickens even sound kind of indignant. Maybe their feathers are literally being ruffled?
And that's not all. I went outside to shear the kale bed which is going to seed, and saw this:
Can't tell what's happening? Look at the big branch:
I'm no fan of this tree. Shades the back bed and they're just junky trees. I'm kind of hoping that this will be a wakeup call for the owners. Remember they're the ones whose fence fell down a few months ago. Now this tree is threatening that same fence. Hopefully they won't want to see that money down the drain, and not only will cut off this branch, but will take down the whole behemoth.
I left a note suggesting that their fence is in danger. We'll see if they respond. Even if they don't take down the whole tree, though, there's going to be a little more light in my garden soon.

I hope they take care of it before it crashes into your garden bed. it's been windy here too, yesterday was just a miserable day, so cold. The best thing about these windy days is that it tends to take care of things like big trees growing in wrong places... :)
Michelle, I'm with you. I may do as much indoor huddling as possible.
Good luck getting rid of that tree. My neighbor has a huge English walnut, with many dead branches, that shades my garden. If the branches aren't falling onto my garden, or sometimes onto my head, the squirrels are throwing walnuts at me! I so want the wind to blow that tree down :-)
Oh, Granny, I hope the tree blows down. Would you like some of our gusty wind?
With our 60 MPH gusts this week, I think I've had more than enough wind! I'm so sick of cleaning up pine tree mess :-( Winds were so strong here in (December? January?) three of her pine trees went down.
Okay, Granny, I'll take more of your gusts. The branch is just hanging there. How wrong would it be to tie a rope to it and stand on the other neighbor's illegal unit roof and pull the branch so it falls into the tree owner's yard, rather than on my beehives?
Maybe if you did it in the dead of night. While singing a Gregorian chant. And wearing angel wings. *snerk*
Looks like an Acacia. What a troublesome and invasive tree. More light. Yippee! Say, I've given your blog an award. Drop in and see:

There is a huge Eucalyptus in the neighbors yard that I would just LOVE if it blew over. Preferably on their house, which is also super run down and ugly to look at!
