Mmmmm... nothing tastes sweeter than the first ripe tomato of the season ... well... maybe the first ripe strawberry comes close!

Slurp, drool, whimper, sigh. I wish my tomatoes would get ripe.

I am both jealous and impatient. At my house there would be a negotiation over who gets how much of that tiny tomato. I hope you got it all...

I can't believe your plant was able to eck out a piece of ripe fruit with all the cold weather we've had. At least with the current warming trend, my plants will have a chance to fill out--maybe even catch up to yours. Enjoy!

Thanks, everyone! Toni, you bet I did. Well, first I saved it to show to all the adults around, then called Denise, and then, ate it!

kitsapFG, you betcha. Every nice first has its own sweetness, I guess. Berries, fruit, tomatoes.

Granny, you cannot be whining at all. You're in harvesting paradise. I got ONE lousy cherry tomato (and no more ripe behind it).

Wendy~O thanks for visiting. I don't negotiate with non-gardeners, and Caterina doesn't like tomatoes. Of course, I haven't let her taste a just-picked Sungold, either.

Kristin, it's time. Yours will probably do better than mine ni the long run.

Stefaneener, hah! I thought for sure your first impulse would be to share the tomato with Caterina and it appears I was right. I do the same thing and our girl gamely TRIES to like tomatoes each year, but doesn't. (More for me!) I will say though that this year I planted a lot more small ones hoping to convince her. Who knows!

Congrats, though. I am anxiously waiting too; I'm maybe 2 weeks out.

el, I told her I didn't like tomatoes until I was an adult (it was actually a vacation on a Greek island -- perfect tomato-loving setting!).
