Still Life

With squash and cat.

I opened the first of the butternuts yesterday for lunch, along with some braised tat soi. I've never seen an oranger squash, although it just tasted like butternut, not ambrosia or anything.

That sure is an orange colored winter squash. I really like the picture with kitty in it, too!

What a sweet picture of the cat trying to sleep despite the squash in his bed!

I grew buttercup wintersquash this year and it is a great squash - but not nearly as prolific as butternut. I am planning to grow butternut next year to improve the yeild per squarefoot of bed space.

Love the orangey curves of squash and cat.
Good butternut is something special, even if it is just butternut. And with all that color it must have packed a nutritional wallop.

Thanks, Mary Delle. It was a fine butternut. I think it's "improved," but it might might might be Waltham.

Jackie - oh yes, I love me some butternuts. Do grow them.

Heather, I'm falling in love with the whole group. Fun shapes, great tastes, storage -- what's not to love?

EG, it shocked me too. He's a great orange cat.

kitsapFG, I could probably have put an entire Marian di Chioggia on him without waking him.
