Sunday, busy Sunday

I'm going to be busy this Sunday, I know in advance because this article here ran in the paper yesterday. We're anticipating quite a crowd.

And tomorrow will be busy because of my "Ohmygoodnesspeopleheretheyard'samess!" reaction.

I'll post pictures and a recap afterwards.

Sounds as though it will be a great day, and cycling too. Here in Europe we're always told everyone goes everywhere by car in California, so it's good to have that stereotyped demolished. Hope it all goes well!

Very cool. I'm assuming you're on the list of stopping sites, right?

How perfectly perfect to do a coop tour on a bike!

Take lots and lots of pictures.

What a fun idea! I look forward to your recap of how the day went. My coop kit shipped this week and is on it's way (thankfully because my chickens are much in need of their new home!) - so I will be doing some site prep this weekend to get ready for it, baiscally leveling the area it is destined to sit upon.

Awesome! What a fun idea! Having just finished a new coop ourselves, I can't wait to see all the photos. Don't worry, you'll get your garden ready in time. Have fun!

Hopefully, we'll be able to say "hello" instead of crossing paths at beekeeping meetings, and reading each others' blogs.

And speaking of which, you should check out my sister's blog, wherein she recounts the story of being invited to speak at a panel discussion on alternatives to factory farming, and ended up being "mugged" by the animal rights activists. Apparently, keeping three hens in Brooklyn is a horribly cruel thing to do. (Someone should tell my sister's hens.)

Oh fun!! If we had more room (and my kid didn't try to *hug* chickens every time we got around some) we'd totally have chicks!

That is too cool.

I just finished reading the article (playing catch-up), which Claire over at "An Alameda Garden" posted (http://alamedagarden.blogspot.com/), and having an "aw, man" moment because I would've loved doing that tour. You mean I could've ended up in your back yard? Too funny...

I'm hoping to revisit the chicken idea again in the fall...

My photos from the tour are posted at my blog. It was a lot of fun. Great hens, great hosts.

chaiselongue, everyone does go everywhere by car in the entire US. Northern California (along with a few other pockets) is something of an exception, but it's still not great. The tour was pretty biked-out though.

Ribbit, I was. Post to follow.

kitsapFG, I hope I can capture the flavor of this thing -- it was amazing. You're going to have fun with your coop.

CVF, just wait to see. I should have invited you ahead of time. Next year!

Lisa, I missed you if you were here. I've GOT to get to a bee meeting -- and I haven't. I'll read your sister's blog. Folks were genteelly horrified that I planned to slaughter some. . . I'll go check your blog immediately.

GrafixMuse, it was great.

Susan, I'm sorry you weren't there.

Jenn, it wears off, believe me.

MommaS -- I wish I'd posted something much earlier inviting people.

Actually, we chatted for quite a while in your garden. If you don't remember us, I've got long brown curly hair, and Robb walks with a cane.

I'm so behind on all the weekend posts. Sounds like it was a great day. I hope you inspired a lot more people to do the chicken thing, along with the vegetable garden thing. I'm looking forward to seeing a post about the event.

Hope there are pics about your visiting day.

Lisa, I'm apparently not in my right mind. We did talk -- I just didn't link you with the "you" on the blog! It was crazybusy.

Michelle, I wish I'd invited you.

Kristin, working on it right now. I don't think you'd have liked all the crowds.
