New Space

We added a front bed partly for the tour, and partly to keep the mulch from being kicked out on to the sidewalk. I figured I'd plant neighbor-friendly tomatoes (Early Girl and Sungold) and some flowers. I may stick some pumpkins or a zucchini in the middle.

The tour was fun, although talking while hoarse from a cold isn't much fun. People were sweet, and appreciative, and I wish that my printer had been working so that the signs hadn't been made in crayon. Oh well.

And today, Cat and I pulled a sweet treat out of the garden.

I don't even remember the name of the variety, but I can see them (picked much smaller) in a mixed pickle. Next winter, I guess.

You are such a brave soul. I wouldn't have the nerve to put my garden in a tour! I once had our local newspaper requesting an interview about my blog, but I declined....you'd never guess I'm shy, huh? I'm looking forward to pictures, pictures and more pictures!

Oh what fun. We don't have tours like that in our town. In my last town there were garden tours but not veggie garden tours. I've given some of my neighbors tours of the garden though. People are very curious.

Nothing wrong with crayon signs! I am having a garden tour for the Master Gardeners, I'm kind of dreading it since most of the MG's are really into roses and that kind of thing but my yard is native/wildlife/food based so I know mine will be "messier" looking than theirs at home LOL!

That's so great that you participated in that! We don't have one of those here. Only a chicken coop tour.

I'm hoarse with a cold or allergies or something too!

AG, no way! I didn't take any pictures during the tour, just talked. Besides, there was never a real crowd. Now, the tour this upcoming weekend is going to be one of those impressive wall-to-wall people ones, I think. (the bees will probably swarm during it!) Your garden is totally impressive.

Daphne, you could just start it. I might have been one of the few vegetable ones -- just a different example of Bay Friendly gardening.

Erin, you just march to a different drummer. After the first chicken coop tour, someone commented about how messy my garden was. I thought, "pthbbbbt."

Kendra, we have that too. It really lit a fire under us to spruce up.

H Stefaneer, Your new front bed is nice and is that a collie I see behind the garden sign? Would love to see more pictures of your garden! Nancy at Cozy Thyme Cottage

Hey, Nancy, she's our Evil Australian Shepherd. She is one of the primary reasons for the fence around the garden. Must take more pics.

Your garden space is amazing. I enjoyed it, as usual. I surprisingly liked the fence. I recall when I first heard about it I thought it would totally mess up the flow (maybe because I got to see the makeshift fence (lol), but Kevin did a really good job. And Eric did a great job and placement on the front raised bed. And of course, all that stuff growing is great.

I think that carrot is called Thumbelina. I grew those a couple years ago. Yum!

Oh how I wish that I could be part of the coop tour! What fun!!!!!

I keep thinking about adding chickens. Thinking seriously about Rhode Island Reds, maybe Spring 2013! As I need to build a coop for them!!!

Added the cutest little Khaki Campbells this year and should have some Muscovy Babies shortly.
