The sweet side

Although kale reigns supreme in my heart in vegetable terms, summer does herald that wonderful time of year when fruit takes over.

A simple handful of strawberries

To join the rasperries already ripe and the apricots coloring up on the tree. Let the wild celebration begin.

Ohhhh! Your strawberries sure look good! We are having to buy ours to freeze up this year. Enjoy all your fruit! Nancy at Cozy Thyme Cottage

I've so been loving the strawberry harvest. It certainly steals my heart from the spring greens when it starts.

Oh I'm envious of your berries. My strawberry plants were casualties of the rat wars last year. Maybe someday I'll come up with a way to grow them out of their reach. In the meantime I've found a vendor at the farmer's market who grows great berries, but they just aren't the same as fresh from my own garden.

Mmmm...strawberries! I love this time of year, there's so much to look forward to! Now if I could just convince the slugs, and the chickens, to stop sampling the strawberries before they're quite ripe ;)

I think we should just declare June the strawberry celebration month! I wish mine were ripe like yours but sadly they are green berries and flowers at the moment. But the good news is... there is a lot of those green berries in the patch which promises lots of goodness to come. :D
