Mystery solved

I stuck my head up the stairwell and called, "Sarafina, the peas are looking horrible. Can you pick some and see if we can salvage any?" I had wondered, this morning, if there was some sort of disease I should know about that was attacking them.

She went out and then called me -- "You need to come and see this!"

Now we know what was wrong with the peas.

I don't think there is a spray for this.

But such a precious looking "pest"!

LOL! That is the dreaded infection known as "floppy canine" - it is very hard to eradicate from your garden once established there.

Nope, there's no spray for that one, we had the Bernese Disease for many years LOL! Now I miss Pickett again... those are great photos!

Tan<&eacute>, it's probably compounded by cats -- but he overwhelms cat stuff. And I put a cage around the catnip pot.

EG, no kidding. That one has been a big favorite.

AG, he is a love. But the peas!

kitsapFG, the sticks work around the asparagus. Guess we'll have to put them up more actively!

Erin, want another one?

Kelli, he's too goofy to be a prince. But he loves his soft landings!

Lisa, no kidding. He's a mess.

Ha ha! One of the reasons our dogs aren't allowed in the garden, esp. that Riley. Their other favorite thing is to dig craters in newly planted beds. One afternoon after getting into the garden (figured out how to open the gate) they systematically removed all the soil out of a 4'x16'x12" bed that we had just planted with seedlings.

Good luck with the dog! She's awfully cute which is probably why she gets away with it huh?

A clear case of dog-eared pea disease. I had initially suspected Sarafina for being responsible... :)

I have always had fence around my garden for just such pests. My late dog was allowed in when I was there though. She mostly behaved if she knew I was looking. We are dogless now, and all we have is a neighborhood full of cats. Weirdly the fence deters them too, but it doesn't keep them out.

I thought voles were bad LOL! If your dog is anything like ours, turning the hose in her direction would just make her happy! Oh well, you can always do like we Brits do, and make mushy peas ;)

Oh noze! Well at least he looks *really* comfortable. Everyone needs to enjoy the garden somehow. ;^)
