Things are really moving along. I can only manage an overview post right now.
Left to right, front to back -- peppers, lettuce going to seed (who knew it had such pretty flowers?), with elderly potato plants and lovely sunflowers behind that. The tomato jungle along the left shows that the Sungolds win the "tallest, biggest, get a machete" race, and although you can't see it, behind that is a bed of clover, buckwheat, and soybeans for a cover crop. The last bed has kale seeds scattered over half but not started yet.
On the right hand side, the front bed has pouty basil and happy Early Girl tomatoes, with stubby paste tomatoes behind that. The tomatillos all over the middle bed are actually ripening, and there are two empty beds behind that.
Behind everything, in the corner, pattypan squash are romping wildly, and the butternut squash is doing well along the side bed. Fallow beds along the wall, and the kids' beds are demonstrating a variety of their interests.
That trash bag is full of kale seeds. Literally full. I may end up eating sprouted kale all year long.

I just love looking at your garden, it is always so busy! Love the colors on those sunflowers!
"tallest, biggest, get a machete race" - ha!, that was funny....
All so beautiful.
How are those bees doing? We're almost at the critical stage with "Neener's sweet honey." I'll have to contract with you when you goet your next harvest in.
Erin, I only wish I had planted many, many more. It's a good thing to note in my journal.
EG, I think about you when I do my spotted cucumber beetle patrol. I figure you'd squish 'em.
Ribbit, do let me know. It will probably be later in the summer. I did check them the other day, and they look healthy.
Holy Cow! That bag is full of kale seeds?! I guess I know what you will be giving away for Christmas this year. LOL!
I'm so impressed with your hoard of kale seeds, how neat. If you don't mind my asking, what type of sunflowers are you growing? I was thinking of growing a dark colored, shorter, and multi-flowered variety next year and like the way yours look. I decided not to grow the tall large headed ones this year as they shade the garden too much.
A trash bag full of Kale seeds?! Are kale sprouts tasty? I would imagine so.
Wow! Your garden looks amazing!
kitsapFG, the kale seeds are available. I should probably thresh them more effectively than slapping them in a bag full of earwigs, though.
Mr. H., those are some kind of velvet maroon sunflower, multibranching, but they're not short. That one fell over. The tall one on the end is more true to size.
Jackie, I guess I'm going to find out. It was such a good kale, really tasty and prolific. I'm excited about having so many. I could broadcast them.
meemysnyc, I am pleased to hear you say so. It means a lot to me.
